Recommended Exercise

Analyse the "Nishi Whitey video" to note down everything you can see. These exercises will help you determine if you are developing an eye for the kind of detail required for the rest of the class. As always, our response will be available for you to compare. But don't look at it before doing your own analysis.

Once you are done with the analysis, take a step back. Look at the big picture. What do you think all these signals meant in terms of the emotional states of the animals in the video. What was the gist of the communication here? What did each of the animals want to say to the other?

Word of caution, when we go past observations and try to attribute intent to their actions, we must be aware that we can always be wrong about it. There is no way to know 100%. We can only take an educated guess and it is critical to retain humility that we may be wrong. It is their world of communication. We are not the experts. We are trying our best to understand, but we may never fully get it. And that's okay. We keep trying to get better each day and listen a bit more each day.
